The Farm(ette)

FLOREANT LAVENDER  FARM(ETTE)

an urban micro-farm.

The Farm(ette) is our sustainability in action.

A few years ago, Anthony and I rescued from urban development and decay a typical Pennsylvanian farmstead nestled between the Little Lehigh river and a heavily travelled highway. The property includes a stone home with its cold storage and smoke house, a bank barn with its milk shed and a small acreage left fallow for a number of years. Today we grow, following organic principles, lavender and wild flowers, and tend to a large garden which produces vegetables, herbs and blooms for our family.

The buildings are a monument to history in an overdeveloped landscape; we feel preserving local cultural heritage is an essential component of sustainability. The sense of history and beauty that emanates from this property connects us to the land and represents a fantastic source of inspiration for our artwork.
