Bikes are awesome tools that offer unlimited social, economic, and environmental benefits to create a more sustainable future for ourselves and for the planet. We are looking for powerful photographs that demonstrate how bicycles can help make positive changes in life and for the health of an individual or a community.

Sustainability Award, a Globe Live bicycle provided by SPECIALIZED;

Advocate Award, a Canon PowerShot G12 camera provided by Kalb Photo Supply;

Cash prizes of $400, $200, $100 and 4 honorable mentions.

Exposure: Up to 40 photographers, including Award winners, may be selected to be exhibited in a group show throughout FloreAnt Projects Gallery in October 2012,

These entries will also be included in an online contest gallery at, and may be selected for inclusion in the exhibit’s catalog. (Award winners receive a free copy)

Judging Guidelines:


Creativity (story telling)

Composition (emotional impact)

Overall quality (focus, exposure…)

Eligibility:  Open to anyone over 18 years old. Photographers of all levels are welcome, including professionals, amateurs and students.  All photographic processes are accepted such as traditional, digital, alternative/historical processes and a mix of the above. The work must be your own and photographs taken no earlier than 2008.

Entry Fees: $ 25.00 for up to 5 images, $ 4.00 each additional images. (You can enter single entries or series). Maximum 15 images.

Commission: Work must be for sale, 60% goes to the artist, 40% goes to the gallery


Important Note: For the purpose of this contest we will not review images via email or on websites. If selected, you must be ready to send in your work, and the work must be for sale.

Format: send a CD with your images.  Files must be formatted with maximum compression in JPEG at 300 dpi measuring no less than 1,000 pixels in their longest dimension. (We work on Mac platform). Please label each file with your first initial, last name, title. JPEG. (Ex: F.Smith_fracking23.JPEG)

Print Proofs: Send a print proof for each image you are submitting (digital or traditional) at maximum size of 8 ½  “ x 11”. Please label the back of each proof with your name and telephone number.

Your Story: On the CD include a brief description of your work (who, what, when, where and why) saved as a Word document.

Entry form: Print and fill-out the  OFFICIAL ENTRY FORM  and mail it along with your CD, proofs and a check or money order payable to “FloreAnt Projects Gallery”. Mail your complete entry to FloreAnt Projects Gallery, Attn: Contest Submissions, 215 Main Street, Emmaus, PA 18049.

Important Note: CDs and proofs will not be returned unless a self-addressed and stamped envelope (SASE) has been provided.

Contest results will be announced June 15th, 2012

Acceptance: All participants will receive an email notification. Photographers whose work has been selected will get additional instructions for gallery presentation.

Show guidelines for the winning entries: FloreAnt Projects Gallery will only accept unmatted, unframed prints. The prints cannot be larger than 20” x 24”. The prints will be temporarily framed by FloreAnt Projects Gallery for the duration of the show. The only exception would be for works whose frame is part of the artwork and for special work such as tin-types or glass plates, which should be sent protected by proper frames.

Printing and shipping both ways (and repacking fees if applicable) are the responsibility of the exhibiting artist. Unsold showpieces will be sent back to the artist in their original package or SASE. For additional information contact us at

COPYRIGHT: Photographers retain all copyrights of ownership to the photos they submit when entering FloreAnt Projects “Two Wheels to Change Our World” competition and do so of their own free will. As a condition of having photographs selected as winning images, photographers agree to a non-exclusive transfer of worldwide rights allowing FloreAnt Projects the following uses including, but not limited to: hanging the image(s) in FloreAnt Projects Gallery; selling the image(s) as part of a gallery show; publishing the image(s) in upcoming exhibit catalogs; displaying the image(s) on FloreAnt Projects websites; and using the image(s) to promote FloreAnt Projects photo competitions both before and after the show. Photographers will receive appropriate credits in all cases.
